Coronavirus disease (COVID-19): Resources

When the COVID-19 pandemic emerged in Canada, the Canadian geospatial community mobilized, leveraging data to help monitor the virus’s spread, develop containment strategies, and assess the status of Canada’s health care system capacity.

As part of the Government of Canada’s response to COVID-19, the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) initiated a multi-departmental Task Team to bring together and combine health, socio-economic and location-based data from across the federal government, provinces, and territories. This data was used to create virtual maps for use by Canadians, government officials, epidemiologists, and other decision makers to understand the impact of the virus on Canada.
